Description

We will start with telling you what efficiency means and then get into the subject of today’s topic.

What Is Efficiency & How it Impact on cost of Cooking / Heating:

Efficiency is defined as the (often measurable) ability to avoid wastage of Heat Energy, Money, and time in Cooking or producing the desired result. In a general sense, it is the ability to do things well, successfully, and without wastage of Energy. It signifies the performance level that uses the least amount of fuel inputs to achieve the highest amount of output. It often specifically comprises the capability to apply specific effort to produce a particular outcome with a minimal amount or quantity of waste, expense, or unnecessary effort. Efficiency refers to very different inputs and outputs in various fields and industries. Efficiency is measured as the ratio of the total input to total output, which is expressed with the formula r=P/C, where P is the amount of sound output (“product”) produced per the amount C (“cost”) of resources consumed.

Fuel efficiency, in simple words, means the Energy required to convert potential Energy present in fuel or any carrier into kinetic Energy or working form. It may vary from medium to medium. Fuel efficiency is a more accurate measure of Burner performance, categorized into fuel consumption and fuel economy depending on various parameters.

Combustion efficiency means how efficiently fuel is consumed or transferred into usable heat and is defined by deducting the fuel’s heating value from its total heat potential. It is the ratio of heat released by the fuel energy to the heat input by the power. It is affected by the fuel type, bed temperature, gas velocity, and excess air levels. It increases with fuel volatile matter content and decreases with increasing superficial gas velocity. It initially increases with increasing extra air level and then decreases.

Impact of combustion efficiency on burner behavior.

Standard gas burners use gaseous fuel over solid and liquid fuels. They work by mixing gaseous fuel like propane, acetylene, natural gas, butane, and oxygen present in the atmosphere, igniting the burner for Cooking/ Heating.

A gas burner is considered more efficient when there is no soot at the combustion time. Maximum flame temperature with required air-fuel ratio. Complete combustion. In the combustion of fuel, primary and secondary air is needed; by controlling these in design, a burner becomes more efficient.

In India, BIS & PCRA is working in the field to save Energy. SEPL has an in-house State of Art BIS-approved Laboratory and R&D Facility to Testing & Improving the Efficiency of Their Commercial Gas Burners.

Hotel Industry is becoming a vital sector in economic development after the cessation of ethnic conflict that existed in almost 30 years. This has resulted in high demand for fuel-efficient gas burners for enhanced activities in the hotel industry. The major objective of the hospitality industry is to provide maximum comfort and facilities to its customers. A combustion burner that works on gas is considered more cost-efficient and requires lesser or comparatively no storage area. It is easy to use and provides faster results when compared to oil-based gas burners.

This is just a gist of why a gas burner should be preferred. We will get back with more such insights into the same for you. Thank you.
